NKE changes company name

NKE Bearings held its second International Distributor Conference on May 20 to 23. About 100 participants from 21 countries all over the world attended the four-day event which took place at the Hilton Danube Hotel in the Austrian capital city, Vienna.
NKE recently invested in a new 3D CAD programme, SolidWorks, to further increase the efficiency in product design and development. The new software will replace the previous 2D programmes.
In July 2011 bearing manufacturer NKE AUSTRIA GmbH became a member of Frankfurt-based research association Forschungsvereinigung Antriebstechnik e.V. (FVA). In joining the network, which focuses on research all around the power transmission, NKE aims to participate in the member organisations’ joint research activities and to gain additional research capacity for developing new products and technologies.
At the end of March, NKE Austria GmbH launched a vocational maturity programme for young people in technical professions in cooperation with the Berufsförderungsinstitut Oberösterreich (BFI). The Berufsreifeprüfung enables NKE employees with technical training to obtain a full Matura and thus further study and career opportunities.
NKE Bearings successfully passed the yearly monitoring audit for ISO 9001:2000 certification. This again demonstrated the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction as well as continuously improving its quality systems.
NKE AUSTRIA puts the emphasis on employee training. Last year, each of the about 200 employees spent on average five days in training. This can be compared to an average of 1.2 days per year at other Austrian companies. The training courses covered all areas of business such as IT, engineering, production, organisation and quality management.
NKE AUSTRIA GmbH has recently received the Austria Quality Seal. The accredited quality seal is awarded to Austrian enterprises by the Austrian Association for the Promotion of Quality (ÖQA) after successful quality inspections. Quality Seal bearers receive with the commendation a certificate as proof of the distinguished quality of their products and services.
NKE AUSTRIA started construction of a new 1,600-square-metre production hall. The new extension, which is scheduled to complete in September this year, will further enhance NKE’s production capacity, especially in cylindrical roller bearings.
NKE AUSTRIA GmbH strengthens the areas of procurement logistics, quality and environmental management and project management with three new executives.
NKE AUSTRIA has decided to build the new plant in the industrial park Stadtgut Steyr. The new building will consist of 10,000 square metres building area and should be completed in May 2009. More than twelve million euro will be invested in the first development phase.
NKE AUSTRIA has won an award in the “Women’s Advancement Initiative” in Austria. The competition was initialised by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour. A prize of 10,000 euro was offered to each of ten companies who have submitted the best plans and measures to facilitate the advancement of women in the workplace.
NKE AUSTRIA was awarded the innovation prize “Schrittmacher 08” for companies with more than 50 employees in the region Steyr. “We see this award as recognition of our company’s success”, said Heimo Ebner, NKE’s Managing Director.
Sales increase of 63 percent – 30 new employees – 10 million euro for expansion of Steyr site
NKE Austria GmbH achieved record occupancy in the Quarter 2020: During this time, more than 1000 large bearings were manufactured in the plant Steyr.
To cope with the company’s fast growth and to fight against skills shortage, NKE AUSTRIA sets a high priority on vocational training. The goal of having 10 percent share of apprentices has been realised by taking up seven new apprentices on 1 October 2008.
Apprenticeship training enjoys the highest priority at NKE AUSTRIA, despite the current economic downturn.
NKE AUSTRIA GmbH has again passed the ISO audit in November 2009. Recertified to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management and ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management, NKE is now, for the first time, also certified for Occupational Health and Safety Management according to OHSAS 18001.
In order to make it easier for employees to look after their children during the summer holidays, NKE Austria GmbH offered a two-week summer children's programme.
NKE Austria GmbH can proudly look back on last year’s development. In 2022, the Austrian bearings manufacturer recorded growth amounting to 40 percent compared with the year before. Globally, a record turnover of 60 million euros was achieved.
In April 2010, two new executives have joined Austrian bearing manufacturer NKE’s engineering team: Gunnar Simm is now Head of Engineering, while Dr. Bernhard Deffner has taken charge of project management for the hard machining production unit.
