New department heads for Production and Quality Management

NKE AUSTRIA GmbH has appointed two new department heads as of May: Friedrich Blum is the new Head of Production while Wolfgang Gastner takes up the position of Head of Quality Management.

Friedrich Blum studied at the Technical College (HTL) for Mechanical Engineering, Engine and Vehicle Construction in Steyr. He began his career as design engineer in the product development department for large diesel engines at Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Steyr. Later he changed into the production and worked as plant manager at various renowned companies such as Eudora, MTH, Areva-FCI and HTI until he joined NKE.

Wolfgang Gastner completed an apprenticeship as motor mechanic at Steyr-Daimler-Puch and then studied at the Technical College (HTL) for Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in Waidhofen an der Ybbs. He was design engineer and project manager at Engel Automation as well as lead design engineer at renowned machinery manufacturers in Hong Kong and China. He joined NKE in 2009 as graduand in the Quality Management Department while completing his mechanical engineering studies at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany.

NKE’s technical managing director expresses his confidence in the new executives: “With their extensive experience in different industrial companies, both colleagues can certainly help us to further improve our production and quality management. Our focus in the production is the upgrading of component manufacture; in quality management we focus on further enhancing the product quality“ 

With 200 employees at the headquarters in Steyr, NKE produces both standard and special bearings for all industrial applications. NKE’s core functions – engineering, product development, final processing of components, assembly, quality assurance, logistics, and sales and marketing – are centralised at its Steyr headquarters. In addition to product development and application engineering NKE provides a full range of technical services and training. NKE’s products are distributed through 18 international representative offices and more than 240 distribution outlets in 60 countries.
